Porto and the Minho Province

When you visit Porto, don’t miss the gardens of the Palácio de Cristal (‘Crystal Place’) with a wide range of romantic and eye-catching colours. There are several museums and monuments that shouldn’t be missed.

In Vila do Conde, you can enjoy the golden sand beach and its historical centre. Vila Nova de Gaia offers fantastic views of the Douro River, and is located on the south bank of the river. This city has excellent beaches that are ideal for a swim.

Continuing onwards towards Minho, don’t forget to visit Guimarães, one of Portugal’s most historically significant cities, and Braga, an attractive city with a youthful feel. Don’t miss Barcelos, which offers a magnificent view over the river, and has weekly craft markets that make the city an important regional centre.

You should also visit Ponte de Lima, known as the city of the Bridge. Stunning from a medieval perspective, this city offers visitors the chance to take a boat trip along the river. Also visit Viana do Castelo, one of Portugal’s most beautiful cities, rich in heritage and with an interesting historical centre.
